The engineer/scientist in this role will work on an integrated aerodynamic heating/thermal response code that is used in a range of applications within the aerospace community (NASA, DoD) including missile and flight vehicle system design.   Candidate will support upgrading as well as development of modules in order to add capabilities (or improve performance) of the overall code base/software package.   The position will work closely with other developers, aerospace engineers, and end-users to recommend tasks that will increase performance and capability of the system. 

The team will work with a variety of languages and interfaces, requiring an engineer or developer interested in learning new technologies (old and new).    The tool will need to be reliable and upgradeable, requiring tight version control, documentation and a robust, scripted testing process that can verify the data generated is accurate. 

Requirements:

  • Position requires a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Similar STEM Disciplines will also be considered
  • Experience developing Object Oriented software
  • Experience developing in Linux environment, preferred candidate will have experience developing in a Windows environment as well
  • Experience with Shell Scripts such as Perl, Bash, or tcsh, and related Linux system automation and library installations
  • Experience (or demonstrated Capability) in building, growing and maintaining an automated software verification and validation testing platform for unit/regression testing (specifically as it relates to upgrading the specific product being developed)
  • Understanding of best practices related to software documentation and version control
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen; preferred candidate will possess or meet eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Experience with software development and data analysis in C++ and/or C and/or Fortran is preferred
  • Candidates with interest and/or experience with high performance and distributed parallel computing would be a plus
