CFDRC is currently looking to add highly motivated individuals with experience in the development and use of circuit level simulation software for designing photonic integrated circuits. This position will support multiple Research and Development efforts. Job responsibilities will include:

  • Development of circuit simulation models, numerical algorithms and solvers, and software for silicon photonic devices
  • Design of integrated photonic components, development of fabrication processes, and data analysis to characterize the performance of photonic devices
  • Compact model extraction from high-fidelity simulation results or experimental data
  • Documentation of technical activities and findings in reports and publications
  • Contribution to future research through proposal preparation and by expanding existing technical capabilities

Requirements:

Position requires candidate to be at least a Permanent Resident of the United States. Candidate should have at least a Master's Degree in a related Engineering, Physics, Optics, or STEM Discipline. Technical requirements include the following:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in modeling, simulation, design, or lab characterization of photonics devices
  • Strong programming skills with C++, Python, or other object oriented languages and experience developing circuit models and algorithms for silicon photonic devices, such as detectors, modulators, splitters, couplers, and integrated waveguides, are required.
  • Experience with optical simulation and design tool such as FDTD, optical mode solvers, Matlab & EDA/design tools is desired.
  • A good background in photonic PDK development is preferred.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills - as it relates to working in a creative, multidisciplinary, cutting edge R&D environment. Ability to collaborate and emphasize teamwork is critical.
  • Ability to communicate technical data and information in written and oral presentations - including interfacing with technical and non-technical stakeholders is required.
