CFD Research Corporation
  • 02-Mar-2017 to 01-Aug-2017 (CST)
  • Huntsville, AL, USA
  • Salary
  • Full Time

Position will be full time with an excellent benefit package that includes 401k Match and ESOP Contribution.

The engineer in this role will support multiple efforts for DoD and commercial customers interested in high-fidelity models and simulations of aerospace system performance (launch vehicles, missiles, and aircraft).  Candidate will use understanding of CFD techniques and large-scale data analysis methods to develop and improve codes used by engineers to analyze design concepts and system performance.  Often this research is designed to improve tool performance (speed and accuracy) while limiting resources required to execute.  Candidates will also be required to conduct aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic CFD simulations, analyze and document results.  This process will be used to verify tool accuracy as well as support design tasks. The engineer will also be required to interact with outside clients in government and industry. This position provides a challenging work environment with excellent opportunities for growth and advancement. The team will use common CFD codes (e.g., FUN3D, Loci-CHEM) as well as other proprietary tools developed in-house.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (or meet eligibility) for a Secret Clearance
  • Master's Degree (or PhD) in Aerospace Engineering or similar discipline
  • Experience Developing CFD codes using one of the common codes (or similar) available:  Fun3D, Loci-CHEM
  • Candidate must demonstrate developing and compiling highly parallelizable computing tools using openMP and MPI
  • 2+ years of experience supporting NASA or DOD customers preferred
  • Candidates with experience developing tools in C/C++, Python, and other object-oriented languages are preferred
  • Exposure to fluid-structure-interaction modeling and finite element tools (Abaqus, Nastran) is preferred

Ideally the candidate will be interested in working multiple efforts around similar technology concepts.  The position will allow interested candidates to support research topics in their area of interest as well as proposal development.
